Sacredness
What does sacred mean?
There is great healing power in the sacral chakra. At an
emotional level, the second chakra helps us with abundance, well-being,
pleasure, beauty, sensuality and sexuality. This feminine energy is
sacred. How can you feel into its sweet,
juicy presence?
The Sacral
chakra is located in the lower abdomen about 2 inches below the navel. In
Eastern philosophy this center is called the Swadistana chakra also known as
the Hara and it plays an essential part in belly dance, temple dance, hula and
any form of sacred movement and flow.
At an emotional
level, the second chakra helps us with abundance, well-being, pleasure, beauty,
sensuality and sexuality. This feminine energy is sacred.
In Western
society, we tend to abuse or neglect this chakra. We abuse our sacred energy
source through co-dependent relationships, sex and addictions and we neglect it
by numbing out, shutting down emotionally, staying in our minds, disconnecting
from our bodies and not moving our hips.
When we dance,
swim, move and feel with the intention of loving ourselves, the quicker our
energy opens up and begins to flow. When we are more accepting and caring of
ourselves, we replace negative patterns with more positive, nourishing
patterns, then our energy can shift to a lighter, freer level expressed in a
sense of freedom, joy and ease.
We can feel our
sacral chakra is blocked when we are in a fun and happy situation and suddenly
our guard goes up because we are feeling fearful, blocked or critical.
When we’re
moving this part of our body which is the center of joy, we can choose to move
in joy. Play in joy. Love in joy. Connect in joy. Instead of punishing and
judging ourselves, we can let our intent be love, warmth, gentleness and caring
for our wounded, unhealed parts.
If you are
willing to take a deeper look into yourself and your sacral chakra, great
self-healing can occur.
Do you enjoy
receiving?
Do you feel
worthy of receiving the good things in life?
Do you feel
worthy of joy, pleasure and happiness?
Are you willing
to sacrifice yourself to please other people?
Are you open to
developing your own creativity and express your personal freedom and joy?
Connecting to
your heart, connecting to your joy and committing to meeting your needs is the
way to connecting to your sacred self. Making yourself a priority. Viewing
yourself as beautiful, delicate soul and celebrating that.
In many ancient
societies, bathing, anointing women and adorning were a part of creating
sacredness in everyday life.
